About Paul, founder
I’m Paul Edmondson, senior HR consultant and owner of HighBarHR.
With 15 years’ HR experience, I’m fortunate that my career has been rich and varied. I cut my teeth at BP during the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. It was a rude awakening, but one that made me aware how critical the HR function is to an organisation.
Unlike many HR consultants whose experience is limited to corporates, I’ve provided HR advice to billion dollar private equity firms, held senior roles in multinationals, worked with serial investors, been one of the first employees of an ambitious startup, and helped scale a number of businesses from a handful of employees to hundreds.
During my time as HR business partner for Heinz, I spent time on the factory floor in the unionised environment of Wigan factory workers (hence the photo of me in a hair net). It was a hugely valuable experience, but changed my relationship with beans forever.
This wealth of experience allowed me to identify the organisations for which I have the most passion and can offer the highest value. For me, this is purpose-led small and growing organisations. Helping founders and CEOs achieve their mission keeps the spring in my step.
